Child Support and Alimony in Tennessee

Today I want to blog about child support and alimony in Tennessee. Let me begin with one thing first.......every man should do his utmost to pay his child support....if due to an economic problem then as much as he can, period....it is your obligation to the child you fathered. But that being said many men are given more child support than they can afford plus as in my case I can afford the child support but had so much alimony attached, more then the child support, I now have trouble making it and

I am just getting my head above water. And with the economic downturn in the country, what can you do if you lose a job, then the support owed just piles up and courts rarely lower it when requested and even when shown good reason.

In fact most courts just act as if you can just start pulling money out of your.....
if you don't have a job or it does not pay enough. The first thing you are told if you have an economic downturn is to file for a change of circumstance to lower you child support. But in many cases it will not be granted and the amount you owe will just begin building up and you will go into debt quickly. If you are using lawyer then your costs will mount faster.

I found it interesting that the state of Tennessee calculates child support using a calculator and based on the non-custodial and custodial parents income. You would think this was an improvement because the judge has to follow it but wait......she can also as in my case add an alimony judgment so now you are paying more then you can afford and must come up with more income? hmmmmm, now if you had a wife who did not work and this was a decision you both approved of during your marriage then hey you used her services as a wife and mother and you now owe her and I see that point.
But in my case my ex-wife had a job that offered her all the advancement available to me. She had a college degree and was quite capable of moving ahead. I had gotten most of my education before I married her and had been a programmer for about 10 years. But along comes Judge Marie Williams.

First Judge Williams ignores her extra $10,000 eBay income, next she assigns child support 0f about $820 per month. Then she adds an alimony of $1000 per month, this is more then the child support......the ex is worth more then the child!. This is all before we have even begun the divorce. So now she is supported great but I have no money for a lawyer.

Well I guess I am ready to get started

I read through the final divorce papers that sexist judge signed, this I have not done for a year or two. It was just as spiteful as it was when she did it. You would think I was divorcing her the way she went on!

Judge Marie Williams dragged that divorce on and went to the point of making up transgressions I did so she could give her everything we had, it is unreal to read it.

In one statement Judge Williams declares I was not paying the house payment while I am not living at home but at the time I was paying $1800 a month in alimony and child support for her to pay the house payment and other bills. But I get this "back owed house payment total" deducted from my part of the equity in the house. When this is not enough to keep my ex from paying my piece of the equity to me the Hon. Judge Williams makes up $4000 that I "took from the marital assets"? Leaves me $42.00dollars of equity so she can turn the knife in the wound, what a &*##%$, fill in the blank.
No money was ever taken from the marital assets, we withdrew money from my 401k that went into home improvements and cloths for the ex and stuff for her EBay business that Judge Williams ignored the income from.
Well I am going to start scanning the decree and add comments. Till next post. Comment with any Judge Marie Williams, Third Circuit Court of Hamilton County, Tennessee stories of your own!!!

Have a great day, you to Marie

Well I guess I had better get to work. I got a comment back in June and someone else was slammed by Judge Williams. I have three years left to pay the ex alimony and about 6 left for child support. Judge Williams is up for re-election in about 3 years. So I guess it is time to roll up the sleeves, start blogging and see if anyone else would like to see her leave office.

Problem is that in Chattanooga once a Judge is appointed as Judge Williams was or elected which she has had no one run against her, they are in for life. Face it you don't pay attention to a judge unless you go before her and get the book thrown at you.

She uses her office to try to prevent divorce. I think it is terrible that people get divorces but do not need Judge Williams to direct my life. She has used her position to push her own agenda. What she needs to do is to fairly divide the assets and property and let people get a divorce if that is what they want.

What she does is drag the proceedings with the idea that it will bring the couple back together because of what one or both stand to lose in the divorce. That will be the male in most cases and he will pay plenty. I lost my house, all the contents, plus I am paying a working, college educated woman $1000 a month in alimony on top of $800 in child support. So much for I am women, hear me roar.

Well I will begin getting more on this blog. Please leave comments or your own stories regarding your experience with Marie Williams.
